ASSESSMENT, INVENTORY, PLANNING TOP ICTD’S FIRST STEPS
GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Inventory and assessment of hardware, software and peopleware components of IT management of the local government of General Santos City are the priority activities conducted by the division as the first steps to plan and establish the city’s roadmap in ICT.
The whole month of June 2013 was dedicated to the activity. The needs of the ten (10) divisions of the City Mayor’s Office and twenty-four (24) departments of LGU-GSC were assessed by the staff of ICT Division namely Roy Detoyato, Mark JunniesNarido, Ma. Corazon Ycor, Rolando Patac, Jr. and Roger Tura. They divided the different offices to come up with the hardware and software inventory, and system requirements of the offices.
System development can be requested to the City Mayors Office through the ICT Division. An overview and assessment needs of the requestor are then acted by the system development team. Interviews with the front-liners including the actual and future needs are documented as basis to conceptualize the analysis and design of the system.
Helpdesk team was automatically put in place as requests started to queue under the computer hardware and application software support. Common issues and concerns include the software installation, reformatting of hard drive, virus cleaning.
The ICTD as a new office adjusted along the way as requests vary from offices to personnel. In the learning curve of providing ICT services to the internal stakeholders, policies were drafted to address the various issues and concerns division has to undertake in the current year and establish a roadmap for the next couple of years to come.
